The "B" is from the original B-57 "Bomber" designation. The "W" says it is a weather reconnaissance aircraft. If you believe that I would like to sell you some salt water frontage property in Kansas.

Heard the following from inside:
After over 40 years of not flying, it had only 3 gripes!! But a marine flew it, I heard they take crap! ;-)
I'll have to crucify him for not capitalizing Marine, but overall a solid guy!
Incredible job on the restoration to flying status.

Thanks but, I already own some in Nebraska. If they are bringing this aircraft back I guess the SR-71 can't be to far behind?

But they are all on loan to museums. RB57F #293 recently disappeared from the Warner Robins AFB Museum.

Interesting....are all the decently preserved B57s coming back into service?

Very cool find, by the way. Must bring a tear to the eye, to see your bird get a new lease on life and fly again! In front line service no less!

That is very, very interesting to say the least. What is the advantage of a B-57 over a U-2 in terms of capability? It seems to me that both platforms perform admirably in the ares for which they are designed. Is it cheaper to run B-57s as opposed to the U-2?
