I hear you guys. I once had the chance to take a right-seat job in a Super DC-3 but passed because I couldn't afford it... shortly after I was offered a jet job and got comfortable with the nicer equipment and livable wage. The DC-3 crashed on takeoff about 6-months later. Some experiences are more fun to dream about than actually live

I'm frequently in and out of Bogota commuting and I love seeing the DC-3s parked at the Police Ramp and the 727 for LAS Cargo and the Colombian Air Force.
If you're into props, then South America is the place to be. In Cali, there are 2 DC-7s on the Ramp and downtown near the bus station is a DC-6/7 that's in a playground, but I've never spent time looking at them.
