Default Illinois VFR XC @ Dusk

Took my gal down to Sikeston, MO to eat. Turned out to be one of the best days for flying I've experienced. Cool, smooth air. Great sunset views.

I fly out of Centralia, IL. Most of those shots with the bluffs and hills are in the southern most part of IL, near the Mississippi River.

Cool. If you ever get up towards Peoria, send me a PM. If I'm around maybe we can meet for a bite to eat or a drink.

Yeah man, I've been known to fly up to Decatur on a Sunday for dinner. Not real close to Peoria but somewhat. I might venture on up to Bloomington or Peoria for some IFR XC work in the next few months.

I used to fly for Cape Air out of MWA.

I got some really good shots of the Bald Knob Cross when I went up there to try to catch a shuttle re-entry, before they re-covered it.

In your second picture, that straight treeline on the left is where I took this picture, looking opposite the way you're heading:

There's a neat road along those bluffs that leads to some good hiking.

Small world.

Great hiking there! Unfortunatly about 2 years ago when I was still at SIU a kid jumped off one of those bluffs and died, but boy is Southern Illinois nice. I miss that area so much.

Small world indeed. I work at Lambert also, and I see the Cape Air birds yankin' and bankin' out of there all the time. I think I would enjoy that kind of flying for awhile.

The photo of the road leading to the bluffs is probably very near the picture I took out the window. It actually almost seems like the exact same creek line. (edit: oops you already said that)

I was up at the cross too when it was bare bones. I think it would be really cool if they used that stairwell and let people walk up and get a beter view. Maybe just out a window or something, like Cruz said some people don't know how to handle themselved down there.

I miss the area a lot myself. I grew up in a small town so city living is not really my thing. Carbondale is the only place I felt at home, away from home. And SIU is picking up instructors for the upcoming school year... hmm
