Ours were AF Systems Command birds at Patrick, later moved to Wright-Patterson and finally Edwards. Worldwide telemetry support for Apollo and other launches.

I don't know about the airplanes - but your locations certainly got uglier and uglier!

Yes indeed, the transfer from Patrick caused much wailing and gnashing of teeth. It was good practice for those of us who would eventually work for airlines, because they do it all the time.

Actually, I think that Wright-Pat & Edwards were pretty good locations compared to the average military base.

I never flew in there (considered it an emergency if I would have had too ), but I flew near it almost on a daily basis and could never say that I would have ranked it as "pretty good location" Maybe the job made it bearable. That is how it was for me at Lemoore plus I'm a small town guy at heart.
