So...what kind of survival gear do you usually carry on your flights and what more additional gear did you carry on that overwater flight to Dutch Harbor?

Amazing photos as usual!

Looks like it was a good trip.

The suits, raft, all the required items for overwater. The aircraft normally have survival kits and first aid kits on them.

I actually wind burned my cheeks below my eyes just being outside for a few minutes on Saturday. Then again I'm a Californian so I'm sensitive to cold.

I figured that you must have been carrying the suits. On the show, the fishermen are required to show that they can get into the suits within a certain period of time (assuming they have time in a sinking ship). Was there any requirement - FAA or airline - that made you show the ability to use the extra survival equipment?

We have to visit the pool and practice with the gear. Nothing like a bunch of pasty pilots who haven't seen the sun in 4 months showing up at the pool.

No matter what kind of survival gear you have. If you go into the water in Alaska, start your stop watch. The odds can be beat, but it’s a tuff fight.

I haven't been more uncomfortable than when wearing the exposure suit while flying. Well...I take that back - the NBC suit (which I luckily never had to wear) would probably have been worse since it came with a mask too!) You are right though - start that watch! I don't even like the aters off of CA.

FlyorDie, thanks for the great pics of Dutch Harbor. And I think the “6” is an extremely sexy airplane. Enjoy, not many of those left….as you know.
