Default Cold ANC

My first attempt at some long exposure night shots.

#1 This is shot from the Flat Top trail looking towards ANC. An airplane light trail is visible as it lands on 07R. The wierd reddish ghost looking things are actually FOD himself. I tried to light myself up with my headlamp but I ended up doing too long of an exposure so I ended up with this disaster. Oh well maybe next time when its not -15f with the wind chill.

#2 Shot from the same location but looking NW. Should have done a longer exposure to get better star trails.

#3 Flat Top. I lit my dog up with my headlamp which kind of ruined this shot because of the difference in the color temperature from the Anchorage lights. This was about a 4 minute exposure.

Great looking star trails! Up at your Latitude, it looks like Orion walks right along the horizon.

Absolutely amazing photos!

Maybe this weekend I will get out and take some pictures. How is the road going up to flat top? My friends and I want to go sledding up there.

Yup, Nikon D40.

My dad gifted me his Nikon F2 which I'll get rebuilt someday when I can afford to buy film.

I didn't climb Flat Top on that night. It was way to cold and windy and besides I didn't have the right gear.

The road is good. Coming down you want to slow way down before doing the "90 degree turn of dooooooom" The snow cover is great up there. I'm planning to go snowboarding sometime this week or next week. Boy is it nice having 2 weeks off in a row.

Sorry I misread your caption. Flattop trail. I get it now. I took the kids up Flattop in the summer once and the last 800 feet or so is quite a scramble. I can't imagine doing it in the winter.

Now you see them, now you don't! (Just in case you wanted your awesome photos without a ghostly man or dog in them) Cool photos as usual, FoD.
