There's a beautiful "G" model out here at the lil ol Mountain Home Idaho airport. I'm going to go check it out tomorrow with the camera.

A couple of great planes. I saw them a few years back in Fresno and walked across the ramp in uniform after getting done with a trip.
I went up with cash in hand to get a look on the inside, the older gentlemen taking "donations" said, "You Sir, well, you get in for free."

Not mine, but a link
Here's a couple of pictures of when they were up in Vagabond's neck of the woods. Links in blue font.

And here is a quick link to the home page of the site. This guy takes some pretty great shots of aircraft, brand spanking new coming out of the barn. Good site to nose around. The 747-400 LCF is in there as well.

I actually use this site for most of my desktop pictures, except of course when FoD or Jungle post something really great.

would tell about building them at Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego! He was a riveter, and had plenty of work!

My grandfather was a Bombardier in the B-24. He's still alive and kicking and the stories he has are just unreal. They truly are a great generation.
He and his crew were initially trained in the B-17 and a week before they shipped out they were told they were going to crew a B-24. He said that they had to learn the plane on the way over to North Africa

Not to drum up business but, I fly all three of the bombers for Collings and it is really a special event to get around the bombers and the vets. My two boys spend a week with me on the road flying for Collings and I can say it is a very family friendly place to spend an afternoon. Flights are usually in the am, tours all day then PM flight fire up right around 5pm..
