Speeds were 1/640-1/1250, F8, 70-300mm zoom @300mm(450mm 35mm eqivalent) 200 ISO, Handheld, and a huge crop-just a quick snap from my deck, nothing elaborate.

I while back I saw a very experienced crewmember turn on the landing lights to warn off Venus. Rising through the atmosphere, low in the east, it was making quite a show-flashing green, red, and white. We both chuckled after I pointed out the true nature of the object of his concern.
