Thanks for taking me back, I used to fly up there and camp with my dad when I was in high school.

FOD -

I've never been to the area but I'd like to stop at Kern County airport someday in the T-34 maybe. Looks like a nice area. You seem to know a lot about my local flying area. Did you grow up in the central valley?

I soloed at Shafter (MIT) and spent about 400 hours in my 150 flying all around the valley and up into the hills during highschool and college years. Kern County airport is a very cool place, challenging at times but very cool. My dad signed me off for repeat cross countries to there so I'd go up there to get away from the heat. That airport always seems to have crazy winds and all three windsocks will be pointing in different directions.

I miss California flying mainly just the fun of flying someplace and dropping into a bunch of airports on the way just to check things out. Someday I'll go back and just cruise around with the wife.

If you come back to this area then drop me a line. Lunch on me but you have to bring a photo album!
