I was going on the assumption that the nosewheel was blocked by a shadow- Ah well... that's why I'm not on the rec team anymore, lol!

Well, that looks like a DC-3, I think you are in a Sea-Bee, and maybee in AK somewheres.

As I mentioned on page 1, it is a C-46 Commando, on display at the Curtiss museum in Hammondsport, NY
