runway under construction

anyone who said ATL...
would be correct. I guess it was an easy one... but it's fun to make a riddle. Hey what tipped you off? I thought when I posted it that the fact the picture is over a year old, and rwy 10/28 is long finished, would throw people off. Next one won't be so easy.

Last time I checked they were not using it very much. It's a long taxi from 10-28 to terminal, so pilots always ask for an inboard runway like 9-27. For a long time they were landing one flight per hour out there on 10-28 just to keep in practice. I get the feeling it is only used when weather is very low and the inboard runways are backed up with cat II ILS. ATL is also putting in "endarounds" on runways 9-27 and 8-26. I personally knew the person whose idea it was, and he no longer works in atl management but he said it was very hard to get it approved by the FAA. The endarounds will allow more efficient coming and going from outboard runways. ATL is currently the busiest airport in the world, and they have made a lot of progress in accomodating the increased traffic.
