Default 90 Day Notice Period

Recently did the interview and received the email stating it was succesfull. Guess that puts me in a pool.

My current employer requires a 90 day notice period. Has anybody ever received a CJO with a course date and more than 90 days notice? From everything I've gathered, the max has been 6 - 8 weeks before.

Any suggestions as to what I can expect? How many people are in the pool?

Cheers

Once you are offered a class date I would think that you could negotiate a future date that meets your needs

What happens if you live your present employer with less than 90 days notice?

depends on your employer. UPS could give 0 Fs about that. They offered me a class date with 3 days to start, and I had to reluctantly decline the offer. I wanted to give my employer 2 weeks notice. UPS was very accommodating and gave me a class the month after.
I am sure once they call you with an offer for a class you can explain to them your situation and they might help.
if your current employer is abroad and you have no intentions of going back, I’d say bail once you get a class date. Seniority is important and 30 spots will matter.
pick your poison.

This. Your current employer sounds like they live in a fantasy world. Perhaps you can burst their bubble and help them see reality.

Could be military - waiting to hit the “seperate/retire” button.

More like Emirates or a Middle East airline, even Cathay. Many foreign airlines tie financial penalties like a provident fund to your notice period.

I'd say that eating such penalties is just the cost of doing business in that sphere. I would not care to give 90 days notice, or anything more than two weeks (and even that is nerve wracking)... a lot can happen in this industry in two weeks, to say nothing of several months.

Bailing not an option. Financial penalties are huge with provident fund and other benefits tied up to the last day of service. They really have you by the short and curlies.

Right now it seems the best options is to resign with the current employer and just rescind the resignation if a course date hasn't come through in time.

How long have people been waiting to receive a course date? Longer than 90 days after a successful interview?
