We moved to Crestwood, KY. The schools are great, the community is really welcoming, and there’s no bridge business to deal with on the way to the world port. The bridges will randomly close, so take that into consideration when choosing where to live.
Oldham County on the KY side is also closer to more things we were looking for (Costco, grocery stores, dance lessons, etc). We do pay a little more for taxes but I think it’s worth it.
Oldham county is iPhone. Floyd County is android. Just kidding

Sherman Minton I64 bridge project should FINALLY be done in the next couple months.

I drive from Henryville, IN. There are two stop signs and no traffic lights between me and Edgewood. It’s completely painless at 2 am and pretty easy at any time but 4 pm.
Lots of pretty good local Louisville area choices depending on what you’re looking for, but if you need California choose Ontario and pick your SoCal poison. I’ve lived on both coasts and Louisville won’t substitute for that, if that’s your thing. If the idea of a city based on bourbon and horse racing appeals. You’ll enjoy life

I’m a Floyds Knobber. About a 25 minute drive to work if Sherman Minton bridge is open, about 30 minutes if it’s not. As mentioned, its refurb should be done in a few weeks and that'll be a thing of the past, although its been a nothing-burger for the last couple years as we only have to cross the bridge a couple times a month anyway with our schedules. Excellent schools in our area too (Highland Hills Middle and Floyd Central High, our son has attended both and they’ve been terrific). There’s some good veterans benefits to living in Indiana too, so if this pertains to you, make sure you research that. My wife and I compared both Oldham County and Indiana and Indiana won out for us primarily as I’m a retired veteran and own a plane that also needed a home, but it wouldn’t have disappointed us to have moved to Oldham County.
