They have a name for that. Stockholm syndrome. Pretty soon you start trying to convince people we work less, make more, and hardly ever work at night.

All sarcasm aside, this place remains a good deal if you can find a comfortable niche that minimizes the painful bits and maximizes the positive bits. If I were to be a career commuter, my bidding would look very different and a legacy would likely look much better.

No need for rose-colored lenses here since everybody gets browned sooner or later...but also little need to be a miserable Foxtrot.
This job ain't for everybody, but it IS a very very good job.

Those guys might be 50 today. 😎
In all seriousness, it's so early in the process, I wouldn't even remotely factor in what may or may not happen once our next contract is signed in a decision to come here. To sum up some of the best advice in this forum so far: if UPS is your dream job (live in/near SDF, like the A Plan, like cargo, not bothered by night sort, etc), by all means continue to target us as your number one & maybe even consider giving up a year or two of seniority somewhere else to come here. There are lots of good arguments for this place. If however, you can't stand the idea of sitting the sort, need your terminal Chik Fil A fix between flights, live in Atlanta/Dallas/LA/Denver/name your favorite Major's domicile, OR value "industry standard" commuter language, etc, then maybe re-think accepting a job here. Lots of negatives to go with those positives. For most of us here, the positives outweighed the negatives, but this definitely isn't for everyone. If you're agnostic on the whole thing, take the first offer from a place you can stomach and don't ever look back. Seniority solves a lot of the downsides anywhere.

Can someone smarter than me explain what I'm missing with all this hiring? I'm on the Bus, there is virtually no open time, haven't had a JA call in like 2 years. As far as I can tell, the next bid period has most of the USPS flying and there's very little for LITT. Every new hire class has like 8 Bus FOs.

Those block hours were largely absorbed by reducing LCO/RSV lines and creating more hard lines, since LCO & RSV utilization hasn't exactly been high the last few bids. And since the entire postal contract hits in Bid 6, its likely we'll see even more block hours added.
Also, quite a few Bus FOs who upgraded or bid off in the last bid haven't gone to LTT yet.

Speaking of food....I have been over airport terminal food for a long time, going toward actively trying to avoid it at this point. But that said, I still gotta eat. How does getting food work in UPS/cargo world. From jumpseating on y'all (it has been a while) I remember receiving a crew meal that had been catered for me as the jumpseater. Chicken and rice or similar? What are the conditions for getting crew meals? Are there cafeterias at the hubs? What else do folks do to stay nourished during duty periods?
