Attraction could be the ability to get big blocks of work and of course big blocks of time off. Reserve has stayed junior. So, you could do 2wk on 2wk off reserve or say week on week off reserve. You won't be able to hold longer trips through the first round of bidding for years...maybe four to five? The only way to get them would be VTORs but you don't find your award out until a few days before the new bid period starts so that makes it unpopular. It likely would take years to hold VTOs that are at the bottom of the VTOs. Movement on z is going to come from FOs upgrading.
Common reserve on z is a and b. A is midnight to noon and b is noon to midnight.
1.5 hour call out.

So do they bid on hvy vs light twin classes or is that assigned with the job offer? Have people requested something different at time of job offer?

Assigned with the job offer. Typically in the past if you had heavy international time (civ or mil), the likelihood was high you’d be offered a heavy class. All others could expect 75/76/Bus. Reasoning was that there had been training failures/issues resulting from bringing non-international experienced folks into the heavy fleets. Personally, I think this says more about how much UPS cares about its training programs than it did about any new-hire shortcomings, but as usual here, they run their show how they want to.
