I'm in the exact same boat. I'll reach out to one of my recs and see if he has any insight. I do know that UPS is using a completely brand new application system for this window.

My info is old, I was hired over six years ago. However, if the system still works the same: they have set a software filter to automatically screen out everyone who doesn’t meet their desired criteria (which we have no way of knowing). This may mean you have 1,000 turbine PIC, a 4.0 GPA (honestly don’t think they look at your GPA), and meet all other published requirements but are screened out automatically. Typically, in the past, they would adjust this filter as they worked their way through the list without filling all vacancies. Long story short, don’t give up just yet, but hedge your bets by applying elsewhere.

Thanks. I was wondering the same. I don't want to get rejected for something like that. But the application is showing all tasks completed...

Default Honest Input

I started Indoc with Delta this month. I live where my guard job is along with all of mine and my wifes family. Its a commute to Delta (7-9 mainline flights/day with a lot of commuters, 1 hour flight) or a 2.5 hour drive with traffic to SDF. Everything I have been told the best airline job is one you can drive to. Wanting to hear the pros/cons of staying at Delta and commuting for the next 30 years or driving to work with UPS. The money isn't something I care about, it's QOL with two kids under 3 that is my priority. I have a heavy airlift background so I would assume that I would end up 747ANC or possibly MD11 SDF. Not a guarentee obviously (and this all assuming UPS hires me, I'm just humbled to have an app still pending). This is what I've gathered so far but will take any additional info anyone wants to drop. Feel free to private message if you'd like. Thank you for the help!

UPS Pros: Cargo, Stable, Drive to work, staying in widebody international
UPS Cons: Night flying if domestic, no travel benefits, sounds like not much is put into infrustructure for pilots

DL Pros: lots of growth, daytime flying, a little more flashy towards pilots if that makes sense
DL Cons: Commuting, Hiring until furlough, pax, long time back to widebody flying

Every airline has good and bad points...goes in cycles....not commuting is GOLD.

If you’re in the unit I think you are, there are several UPS guys there. Probably some Delta guys as well. Chat with them about what their monthly schedules look like and how much time they get at home. Seniority matters, so your experience will probably differ dramatically from someone who has twenty years at their company under their belt. The most useful input will come from guys who have been junior recently.

On a bigger picture level, UPS’ retirement compensation is structured in a way more beneficial for guys hired older (A plan) and Delta’s purely B plan with cash over cap favors guys hired younger. Both companies have hired a huge chunk of their seniority lists in the past ten years, but Delta’s new hires skewed far younger than UPS’.
