What % of upgrades actually downgrade later? I don’t know all places, but I do know AA, it is extremely low.

Can't be sure, but I know more than one person who upgraded to narrowbody A at Delter to then bid widebody B.

Our other contributing factors are 1. having a single widebody payrate (biggest factor IMO) and 2. Captain Flat Dollar defined benefit.

Again, money money $$$ vs QOL. Our biggest obstacle to overcome within our group. Every time I hear “we might as well get paid cause that is the best we can achieve” makes me wanna slap the person 🙄. I can’t even imagine doing this job for another 20 years with our schedules.

I was thinking more along the lines of a lesser-paying aircraft will have more junior CPTs just like at the pax carriers & FDX, but when everything pays the same rate you don't have that factor.

At least we aren’t in the same position as our Purple competitor.
Sounds pretty similar to FedEx. Parking MD's and 757's, while taking deliveries of 767's and 777's. We've still got 50+ Captain upgrades to the 757 alone this year.

From BT today 2024, 8 MDs parked. 3 A-300s and 5 75s idled. One 74 conversion delivery. 76 deliveries as stated before.

I think it’s safe to close the 2024 hiring thread now.

I guess that is better than the line maintenance rumor of 14 MD's going west.
