No, not by choice.
Three MD CPTs were still in excess after the Realignment bid award, and were to be displaced. These three MD CPTs were senior to junior CPTs in other seats, and while one chose to be displaced to MD F/O, two chose to be displaced to 757 CPT which bumped the two junior SDF 757 CPT out of their seats, and those displaced SDF 757 CPTs chose to be displaced to SDF A30 CPT which bumped the two junior A300 to F/O seats.
The Realignment added 50 total CPT positions, but with the MD fleet shrinking, displacements still rippled to three CPTs losing their left seat.
Sucks no matter how you look at it, but VTP saved the chain reaction from being substantially larger.

In the school house today, 7-8 this year still stands from those people. If they were getting rid of 14 this year, the MD portion of the displacement would havew been much larger. What is your source?

If we are going to go full gloom we need to account for new jets arriving this year. I believe the new 76s and a 74? may come close to equaling out the number of parked MDs. In any case life is horrible on the MD and everyone should bid Z.

This. Sky isn’t falling. Next two years plane count is a net zero. Don’t expect many upgrades, lots of lateral movement, very few forced downgrades.

Agreed, Yes we are in a stagnant/slowing environment. These things happen, welcome to aviation. If you can’t take a few years of this then good luck. You eventually have to pick your horse and ride it. Choose wisely and choose early.

To add to the above- 23 more 767s scheduled to be delivered in the next three years. 1994 was the biggest hiring year ever for UPS. With 30 years of service, those people will be retiring as well in the next year or two. Things won’t come to a standstill. It’s not Covid hiring, but the world isn’t ending. At least we aren’t in the same position as our Purple competitor.
