Default It’s not about YOU.....masks coming 5/8

Not wanting a trip to ATL for posting some work piece of paper, we have a new directive starting 5/8 that’s says JS must wear masks, outside the aircraft we must wear masks, and the operating crew is at their discretion. This is a very good start!

after flying all day with some completely self absorbed people . I’d like to add this.

it’s not about you. Get over it and Wear the masks.

dont care if you thinks it’s a hoax, don’t care if you think it’s a ploy to get Biden into the White House. Don’t care.real people (some younger than most of us) are dying, and it’s starting to spread though our ranks. Wonder why...?

I listened all day long to “I’m not worrying about getting it”. Well numb nuts...the problem is..you may get it and give it to maybe 2-4 people before you figure out you have it. And those people may not fair so well.

so...get over the stigma, get over your self absorbed ego and start acting like the professional they pay you to be. And while you’re at it, think about this. YOU may do just fine...but what if you give it to someone that takes it home to their immunosuppressive family member, mom, dad, daughter. Son..

unfortunately for cases like this, there is no cure for the complete narcissistic state some of our fellow pilots live in. It’s all about ME....

rant over, carry on

Yea, im pretty this is a terrible approach to getting what you're looking for. Putting people down may be the last way to get them to listen. Im not against wearing a mask and even im thinking F this guy after reading that. Just a thought, the reaction you'd get from saying these things in person is the same reaction you'll get ranting about it online.

Default At this point “it just doesn’t matter”

4+ months of flying into the “hottest” spots in the world. Being stuck in metal tubes with 6+ jump seaters for hours on end. Inadequate cleaning and supplies not to mention sitting the sort with hundreds of potential carriers 5 nights a week.

We are now just up to double digit cases out of roughly 3000 pilots. Some of whom caught it at home from their own friends and family.

Masks at UPS won’t make one bit of difference. They didn’t in Jan and they won’t in June.

It isn’t the flu, but it isn’t the airborne Ebola either. Just more feel good eyewash to keep the sheeple pacified.

Just remember, 2.4 million are supposed to be dead by now in the US alone. Only 250,000 if we were extremely successful in our mitigation efforts. Masks didn’t flatten the curve. So why now?

We have all been had!

So after seven weeks of operating as critical essential employees where getting cockpit cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer/masks has been a fight and international crews can't get clean blankets from an international hub of a global shipping company...now they're going to attempt to mandate mask usage?

The FOIB lists a number of exceptions to the mask policy centered around ability to maintain social distance...as I read it there's lots of latitude there for someone to justify not wearing one in most circumstances. Since the company is now requiring masks they have to provide them per 4.A.2; are they going to be available at every gateway and guard shack across the country for offline jumpers or those who have been on OCV/medical/long term training? Not according to the bulletin...

Have there been any documented cases of an infected pilot spreading it to another pilot they were crewed with or jumpseated with or sat near in the NASC or crew van?

I think wearing a mask is a smart mitigation policy for the next month or two, but think a mandate is silly and if someone is concerned about getting the virus at work and taking it home to an compromised family member, they should avail themselves of the negotiated LOA.

I think it’s a stupid requirement. As Boiler said, we have basically been having unprotected sex with the general population for the last 4 months, now they want us to wear protection. Do an antibody test on the pilot group, I bet we are at 20%-30% minimum.

Give me someone’s opinion on coronavirus mitigation efforts, and I can give you their political leanings and primary news source. It’s sad (and dangerous) that this has become politicized.

Don't start that nonsense. The jumpseat is not a tool to be used to push ones agenda. If its company policy, so be it, but actions like that can easily lead to reactions such as captains denying junpseats to those who insist on wearing a mask.
