While you may not be able to to use or install a particular app on the company iPad, I haven't found any problems using the company's bandwidth via personal hotspot.

Not the ideal solution obviously, but where there's a will theres a way. Not a big deal domestically, but internationally that tip comes in handy.

Yes! And...another "loophole" to be plugged by the Good Deal Cops no doubt...

An LCA told me a standards meeting had a slide with unapproved apps on ipads, rank ordered from most to least. One month it was some game and few knew what it was. Someone said it was a kids' game that people were loading for their kids (or grand kids). Everyone laughed. They know.

If the LCA's are wasting their time monitoring this type of crap, then we're in a lousy spot.

It was likely an entertainment slide for the meeting, not something the LCAs need monitor. It demonstrates the company knows what's on there and it appears they're now moving to shut down the non-white list apps.

Management applauds your use of the Distilled Whiskey and Community Guide App, but recommends you update your Tinder password.

Funny thing is, LCA's have the App store enabled. The one's I have seen have a lot of non-white list apps installed. Seems like a double standard.

But but they have cool red letters on their badges saying checkairman - so awesome

The color of the letters should be brown

With great responsibility comes great access, or something like that.

Half Wing,

Let me help you out with a huge misconception here and maybe save you the time and trouble of having to find a new job. The company is actively monitoring your iPad automatically and constantly. I have seen two live demonstrations of the monitoring system.

The head tech dude comes into the room during a meeting and puts the iPad monitoring screen up on the projector. Any unauthorized app or website that is or has been used in a company iPad comes up with the violators file number attached. What is an unauthorized app you ask? ANY APP THAT IS NOT AVAIABLE THROUGH THE UAL APP STORE! What is an unauthorized website? Anything that is not available through the UAL APP STORE or is not company related.

Do not web surf with your company iPad. Do not load unauthorized apps. They know about it immediately. If they choose to act on it they will act on it. Don't be stupid, don't think that you are out smarting the company, just get your own personal device for personal activities.

Especially don't do this if you are a half winger..... This is not rocket science folks.

Is there a grey area here? Yes. Is there a a line in the sand? Yes. And you don't want to be the guy who finds out where that line is.
