Kudos on Polaris

I've flown on Cathay, and didn't like them at all.
I've had one great service flight on an American carrier. Realized that all the FAs were from TPE...no US FAs on the flight...that was why it was so great.
Generally, I find the ME and Asian carriers the best, overall
My favourite airline of all is Qatar, because of the service and the food, and the entertainment options. I just flew a leg on them in Coach, and the service and food were much better than a typical First/Biz class on an American carrier. Also, I flew a leg on a -380 in coach, and the seat was MUCH better than the coach seat of any other aircraft I have flown in.
Note: I have NOT flown on Thai, and don't have much experience on Singapore.
Also: I am now trying to fly less on AA, and more on UAL, for my domestic flights...problem is, ORD is often terrible, due to the fact that ORD and the FAA let the US carriers scheduled unlimited flights through ORD, so they are WAY over capacity. Any little hiccup, and it is a disaster...

I'm real regular on UA, usually long INTL and some X-country EWR-LAX or SFO. The new Polaris is a nice improvement and certainly a move in the right direction. The problem with UA (and most probably most legacy US airlines) is inconsistency with service. You can have a great experience one flight and be totally ignored on another. The problem seems to emanate from the lead. The lead FA needs to coral the group to do more than the minimum.
The new bedding is nice, now keep working on improving the catering and get your FA's to do more than serve the meal than disappear.

By comparison, the Cathay flight I took featured...
- virtually no bedding (like UA business class used to be. The Polaris bedding is a vast improvement)
- absolutely terrible food, no better than what you get on domestic coach.
- very perfunctory service
Cathay has fallen a long way since the 80s, when they were a choice carrier.
But I must say I'm impressed with the UA Polaris service. Of course, it may have helped that I brought along a large chocolate sampler box gift for the FAs...
