Good luck getting the rest of country to devote and develope farm land to replicate what California produces. Most of which wouldn't even be possible to mass produce due to climate and geological conditions.
Then add in other commodities such as oil (3rd largest producer behind Texas and North Dakota) and other mineral deposits and the rest of the USA would be in a world of hurt without California's farm and land products.
The USA needs California, and California needs the rest of the USA.

No problem....cut off the colorado river and we cut off your food supply.
California's agricultural abundance includes more than 400 commodities. Over a third of the country's vegetables and two-thirds of the country's fruits and nuts are grown in California.
And if you do hit the off button where do you suppose all that water will go?

The good stuff's in Cali.
Interesting how when Texas was talking of seceding, the left couldn't wait for them to leave. No the shoe's in the other foot.

Lol.......Cali is largely a desert......we divert the water to another desert and we get the good stuff (debateable as to how good cali actually is). We wouldn't even notice the change in the end. It's all academic....it's just talk.

What happens when the lake fills up?
I fly over a lot of land that is covered in snow 3 or 4 months out of the year. What are they growing during those months?
The country needs CA more than CA needs the rest of the country. But I dont want the state to secede. Just realize that this state contributes more to the country than it takes back. This is simply a fact. And not one of those alternate facts.

As much as "the other 49" disregard how much California contributes in agriculture...I think Californians disregard how much "the other 49" contribute water, electricity and refined petroleum.
Frankly, I think California would ultimately be just fine long-term but would be in for a massive near-term shock should they successfully secede from the USA...which they won't.

What is a fact is that both the country and the state are far better off with each other than they would be if separate, truly a symbiotic relationship.
The only other fact is that it is absolutely impossible for any of us to know what all the benefits that they each get from the other are ultimately worth and who is getting or giving "more."
To state your "fact" absolutely ignores the reality of how a symbiotic relationship works. Both parties get more than they give, that is why it works!!!!
California and the remaining states would all suffer if somebody were stupid enough to try to cut off their nose to spite their face!!! Just like we would have been if Texas had tried to back a few years ago.

Did some quick research. While the overall GDP is quite impressive ("yuuuge," you might say), the detailed breakdown by sector is interesting.
For example, mining and agriculture (oil, fruits, and nuts) only accounts for 2% of that massive GDP.
Meanwhile, government is 12%. (This is a product?)
Overall, if they adopted a policy of isolationism from the "US," the sectors which would be interstate, versus intrastate, drop to about 18% of the total.
Tellingly, "services" is the single largest sector of their economy, according to multiple sources.
A lot of money changes hands there, buying houses at $400 a square foot, or buying $6 lattes. And there is an "official"$26 Billion debt...but critics say it is really $400 Billion....
But if everyone works at Starbucks.....pretty soon, it will fall apart.
