The person is just answering the question. I dont see any whining in the post, just providing data.

I reckon the short call lines only pay something like 75 hours correct? Most of us playing the short call game get a lot closer to 79-80 so those lines might be a disadvantage. Also in not clear what would prevent the company from escalating long calls to SC or FSB even if they had SC lines built?

if they update the UPA and build pure SC lines and pay >80 hours I'm all for it... but the broken payroll system as it exists now already allows RSV to earn upwards of 80s based on seniority. I know the contract says 75 hours for pure SC lines but that is not worth an entire month of SC assignments IMO.

Pilots are known for being a chronic complainers, but new hires should wait at least a year, to get off probation.
Anyone that thinks we are getting more in the next contract, should start looking for another career; this is it my friends, enjoy it while it lasts.
At this moment, pilots compensations are the highest expanse in UA! What are the chances for more? Other labor groups already blaming pilots for not getting what they want, since their union leaders telling them pilots are to blame for.
I say: Save, save, save...
Besides, I was under impression, that reserve rules were direct carryovers from L-UAL contract that was so good, compering to anything out there, so what's the problem?
Trump will make "Americas Great Depression again" in couple of years, just in time for new contract. I hope you all like 20-30% tax on imports; pretty much on everything we consume, to pay $16 Billions for that "beautiful, great, enormous, huge, bigly" Wall that everyone love so much. Can't wait to see that! And yes, NAI deal will go away soon, because Trump love airlines and its employees so much. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trump_Shuttle
If I learned anything being an airline pilot in the past couple of decades, it's that pilots have a long term memory problems, and are the most egocentric bunch of prima donnas, especially those that got hired at legacy carries at age 21 and have never experienced anything else.
Pilots will be the most "caught of guard" labor group in the world, when technology will engineer us out of the flight deck. But most likely, we'll blame Mexicans and 3rd world countries for that.
So invest your profit sharing carefully, because it is most likely the last one you'll see. Yes, there is a writing on that wall that Trump will build!

all good posts
we need to negotiate for reserves to get paid 87 hrs guaranty plus 5 hrs per day that they need to actually be near the airport (the new "short call") to cover a trip. and if they get assigned a trip (god help them) they need prm pay of 200%. this should go for new hires who are horribly assigned to be a reserve pilot as well as all the good folks who bid to reserve
we should do this even if it means reducing the hourly rate on lineholders
maybe take away any vaca days from lineholders
whatever it takes
do something for all our sakes

It might be worth it if they sweetened the pot...increase the minimum number of days off and eliminate moveable days. We had it at ATA...short call lines got a few hours more pay and min days off was 16 vs 14. They ran a global airline and it cost them big bucks if hey ASKED to move your days off.

Well those are the people who really ought to best understand the difference, right? Having just been holding a line, suddenly they find themselves stuck on reserve - possibly for a long time. So if those people are airing complaints about the disparity between the experience of a lineholder vs a reserve, it should get your attention, and deserve your respect.
