True the only 2.5 SC I got was on the 737.....I've been 756 and 787 for most of my time at UA.

"two and a half hours."

Yup. Any other answer is failure on your part...with certain exceptions.

And a couple additional points:

1) Don't leave the house without an assignment on your schedule. (Can't emphasize this enough.)

2) Once you have an assignment on your schedule, you have no specific responsibility to be "contactable."

3) If you do hit traffic that will result in you taking more than 2.5 hours simply call and let them know you are on the way but still in traffic. You can't control the weather or road conditions and virtually the sum total of disciplinary precedent is "reasonableness." If you are making a good faith effort there's nothing more you can do. Several of our biggest bases are in locations with unpredictable traffic and this has been an issue since forever. They may remove you from the trip (at their option) but there won't be a carpet dance....unless this is something that has happened a dozen times in the past month.

Adding on,

Regarding 1)--”just head to the airport" is not an assignment. A pilot should accept an assignment only after checking the legality of it. Can't check if it's not there.

Regarding 2)--because if they cancel the assignment before you report, and you answer the phone before you report for this cancellation, you will not get paid for a report-but-not-used event.

Unless you do want to get paid that extra hour for showing up earlier...

At least it's at your discretion.

Yes, that's an option too! And it's how it should work. We can help with their crisis if we're compensated for it.

Too many times they will play the "start getting ready and we will call you back."... sorry, I'll start getting ready when I'm assigned the trip on my CCS schedule... like another post said, if you make it under 2:15 you'll get an extra hour of pay for the 15 minutes.

How is this verified? Meaning how do they know you were there in 1.5?

They have no way of knowing. I had one scheduler try to tell me that if the flight gets out on time, I would get the 2 hours add pay. I told them to put the 2 hours in my pay and then I would start thinking about leaving for airport. They said, never mind.
