Where is the pull with airbus and Boeing that an airline our size should have? Hawaiian replaced those 767’s with shiny new Airbuses, why can’t the “the worlds leading global airline” do the same.
Yes it’s expansion but it sucks watching the coaches f up a game from the bullpen.
These are two late 2002 and one early 2003 build 767s.

These airplanes are leased from Boeing as part of Hawaiians BK. Boeing needs to place these airplanes with someone else until their lease agreement is completed. United is Boeing's go to operator to dump unwanted airframes (777-300's).

These 763's are basically parts bins to keep United 763's flying thru the summer.

This info is from Hawaiian Airlines Management.

I figured as much. I'm not sure what your management is doing with the current capacity mini-crisis nor do I think they know what they're doing either. "Hey, everybody is making money with capacity discipline, lets trash that model and start a price war!"

Regarding scope, all it takes is 50% + 1. If you've got a bunch of angry 63 year old ladder-pullers then for the right incentive who knows what could happen to your NB flying. We made gains on the RJ side but gave away a couple % on the international for that fat retro check, everybody has their price.

As a 63yo I have no interest in giving away scope ... For a few dollars or any amount of dollars. I don't have enough time left for it to make any significant difference. I am concerned for those that will be here in two years when I'm gone because there are quite a few guys more senior and much younger that "need the pay raise" ... Those are the ones to worry about.

American and Delta both added a ton of seats to the market in 2010 while Smisek was downsizing to placate Wall Street, apparently Kirby is trying to fix that.

I just hope that the 50 seaters are a quick fix while Kirby brings larger aircraft, even if it's the E195-E2.

No more E145's!!!!

If he thinks 50 seat RJ’s are a fix to anything we are screwed.

It’s Kirby... he’s never seen an RJ that he didn’t like.

He figures he’s got most of the Instructors on his side and most of the retired military folks United has been hiring over the years because they tend to be company men and are sympathetic to doing what’s best for the entire organization so he just has the present the sales pitch the correct way to energize them to help the company.

He also figures that most of the pilot group age 55 and older are eager to bump up their income for their last contract prior to retirement, as will of the folks who work to pickup extra trips etc.

Furlough recalls will be mostly be “NO” voters as will folks who spent much of the lost decade at the regionals.

The thing his team of experts has to do is come up with a dollar amount to to bring a smaller number of folks into the yes category to get that 51% in the yes vote column without giving away too much.

It will be interesting to see what that number it ultimately takes to get the scope relief that Kirby wants but history shows that all United will have to do is offer the right dollar amount.
