While I certainly hope that I'm full of it, history is on my side.
Management dangles a ten dollar raise and continuation of current scope, or a 30 dollar raise and relaxation of it, a big chunk of the senior dudes will opt for the $30 bucks. Not all of course, but a significant number. What do they have to lose? 20 bucks!
The key is to have a strong MEC which won't allow something like that to see the light of day. I believe we currently enjoy that.

I do agree that a strong mec is the key. JMO

EXCELLENT point. It disturbs me that you have to make it. If they're young enough, those who believe in the benevolence of airline management are likely in for a rude awakening.

Those are probably the old SkyWest guys. They never needed a union because the company would give them what other union carriers got, just to keep a union off property.

For anyone I fly with who is in the bottom third of the seniority list, I tell them a vote for scope relaxation is a vote for their personal furlough letter. Those who are lucky enough not to be furloughed, enjoy the stagnation.
Syd and James get it. Leave the profession better than how you found it.

Any how, scope relaxation from top to bottom is a non starter and should be for everyone on property.

Funny, right before I came on here I was on a SkyWest alumni page and the only mentions of ALPA were from UAL/DAL/FDX guys and gals speaking to the merits of ALPA.
Anyway, don't count on a regional guy voting to lift scope unless said pilot wants a reason to find a new job without quitting...

Sweet Jesus. If I had a dime for every time someone hijacked a thread to pontificate on not granting an ounce of scope relief I'd have a nice substitute for my profit sharing check. I think this pilot group is more unified on the subject than on just about anything else (unified against any relief that is). So, I think it really isn't an "issue" worth discussing unless the NC reports otherwise.
Would someone like to start a thread dedicated to "Should we give up scope?". Me? Hell no, why bother? My opinion is against and not open for debate. There has got to be a troll somewhere who would love to throw some chum in the water.
Back on thread, anyone got any insight into upcoming fleet moves? I'm wondering if reopening IAH 787 will nudge the next new hire BI class forward a bit.
