This was actually mentioned to me by a union rep at my last airline right before I came to UAL. A total buy out with a staple where both ALPA groups agreed to the terms. Apparently this is possible with concurrence from both sides of labor. Who knows...

Maybe there's hope for the folks at AWAC after all.

At UAL, jumpseaters were considered part of the ZFW of the airplane. It didn't make sense to me as a new-hire; I just thought "OK, that's how they do it."

But by designating the jumpseater as part of the crew, he becomes a non-removable part of the dispatch. This is true whether the J/Ser is UA, or another carrier.

It means if the flight gets weight-restricted, other stuff/people come off before the jumpseater does.

That's my interpretation. It helps commuters.
OMC has been around for over 37 years.
Only a UA pilot can't be removed from the jumpseat, not offline.

In the past when this was attempted regionals have refused any pre nuptial agreements involving a staple.

Not a problem.

SWA has already demonstrated how to deal with that.

So, we are supposed to get 14 777-300s by June (1 in 2016, so 13 in 2017). We have already received a 787-9 in January. another one is due in Feb, a 3rd in Aug, and a 4th and 5th in December.

13+5 = 15????? I gotta go back to school cause that aint the number I came up with.
