From today's Dulles/Oscar Thread regarding NSNB:
Prior to his arrival, it seemed that a NSNB was inevitable. By spiking the "sort of" NSNB -700 purchase, Kirby has certainly made his presence felt. He's said more than once now that the economics of such a small aircraft don't work. Could be the honest to goodness truth.
However, I also recall both Air Canada and Delta saying similar things before they announced their orders. Sniper 66 has confidently posted a couple of times that CS is coming, and the numbers he's posted would be enough to unlock every last bit of the 76 seat scope. If we are going to provide a premium cabin product and get away from 50 seaters, the CS is a great way to do it. Far more economical than a -700. The E2 is probably fine for that too, but with 4 abreast seating I'd bet it still has a more "RJ" feel to it. People keep saying Kirby loves his RJs though...
Otherwise, I'd previously poo-poohed the idea of swapping 350s for 330NEOs as a negotiating tactic. However, as I've read more about it's cargo capacity (bigger/standard pallets) and the very short transition for 319/320 pilots I wouldn't rule it out. I still think the 350 is a goner.

Seems to me scope choke is doing exactly what it's supposed to.

It's def a puzzler. On one hand, Kirby says we need more RJs more tactically positioned (like not flying a Trash-8 between IAD and EWR). On the other hand the Cseries and ERJ economics don't make sense according to him as well being flown by mainline crews, and maintained by our techs.

He wants the CS just not mainline flying it, look at what he said at AA. Just think if the CEOs can do virtual airlines for long haul, south and north of the border and CS 100/300 for domestic in the regionals. Then they don't need expensive guys like you mainline guys. That means more money for them via bonus from increased profit margins all which will be sold as cheaper tickets for consumers and better return for investors which in 15 years will only be the rich as the middle class will cease. They wont get CS100/300 in the regionals or at or near regional rates till the next crisis then the will push this in return for saving the B Fund, work rules etc. America is only getting poorer.

FYI they tried that
90-110 seater on the SKW certificate with Mainline pilots flying it under mainline contract and rates and everything else SKW employees
They got the GFY
United Will buy a Regional and tag everyone on the bottom of mainline seniority and have a single list ..... just like Lufthansa and its Regional Cityhopper and there you have the 16000 pilot seniority
If s--- hit the fan like after 2001, instead of going to a Regional United Express for 2nd year FO pay, you will be flying big RJs on your own property...
A brilliant way to create a new B scale of 2020 without Bob Crandall around ...
