I’m fortunate enough to be in this very situation. Had an interview with both Delta and United within 7 days of each other. Hired by both. Delta offered a class date this summer and United training was not available until Nov/Dec.
I started with Delta, and have a transcontinental 2-leg commute to NYC. It is tough and costs both in days away from the family, and dollars to make happen. Delta is a great company, and I’ve really enjoyed the people…other than the commute (and the maddog does have some quirks…)
I live within 2 hours of SFO. Although I’m giving up 4 months of seniority at DAL and have to go thru training again, I think QoL is going to be vastly different. Of course there is risk in switching companies; but in my calculus the potential benefits outweigh the risk
This has not been an easy decision; I think the best advice is to put yourself in a situation where you have options. Ask for, and listen to all the different points of view. Then make the decision that best fits you and your family’s goals. In my case, I’ll be starting with United in a few weeks.

Been here for just over 3 years and I'd have 20 sfo 787 FO's junior to me per 1701V final. 28 Sfo 777 FO's. There will have to be some big bids this spring for summer 17. Of course the 250 747 FO's will have to fit somewhere. Maybe see some of the first displacements off of that in fall 2017. An FAA maintenance inspector told me the company was talking about keeping the 74's longer now. I am not going to get my hopes up though.
