Never had a fuel stop, done many BOS-SFO. The 757 is a niche aiplane at this point for SNA, JAC, etc. For the vast majority of the rest of our domestic routes the 900 is perfect and makes money at less cost. You can cherry pick the extreme examples and pretend that is every flight day in and day out, but that is simply not the case.
Again, the majority of domestic flying is right up the 737s alley, and does it cheaper than the 75. Guys are so emotionally attached to the great 75, I get it. I love it too. But it has a much more limited role now and should only be used where its truly needed.

Oh boy..
Are we trying to do transatlantic routes with the 73?? No, we got other planes for that.
Thats NOT what we are talking about here. We are talking Fort Lauderdale to Chicago...you don't need super duper runway STOL capabilities to fly this. This is what the 737 is for.
If you guys had your way we would be flying 757s from every single domestic route and probably losing our a$$ flying an airplane with capabilities we don't need on most routes.
And give it a rest with the 30-40 blocked seats. Might happen on a fraction of the thousands of flights we fly...have never seen anything like that, worst was 10 seats out of UIO. Just a lot of watercooler stories...
Yea cargo is a lot heavier that people and FEDEX needs the capabilities, we don't. Uhh, my head hurts..

Even if you only see a small fraction of flights with blocked seats, that's thousands of flights per year. That's a lot of ****ed off passengers.

that must be one tight cabin... nothing like being a pax on a single aisle flight more than a 3-4 hours...

Not as bad as you'd think. They removed a lav and that partial galley at 2L. I think they may use some kind of slim line seat. Anyway I can't imagine it hurting the economics of the 57.

This morning I deadheaded to HNL from SFO on a B737-900ER. 30 plus mail bags were loaded on the airplane prior to departure that I observed. The airplane had every seat full and many in arm babies. 5:35 flight plan. Great service from the sUAL FA's. Entertainment system worked great. Passenger could not have been happier.
On the gate next door was PS service flight to EWR. B-757-200ER sCAL airplane. Passengers standing at the gate screaming at the CSR's about another flight because that airplane was missing a part and SFO didn't have it. Old airplanes regardless of the type are killing us if they don't make the trip.

I miss the 757 greatly. Best airliner I've ever flown. Flew a lot of EGE/BOG/LGA/DCA not to mention flights to Europe/UK with no weight restrictions. You can't deny it is a superior performer. I also must say that I have never seen a weight restriction on the 737 now that I have been flying it a tad over 3 years. I fly a lot of JAC/EGE/BOG and I don't see restrictions on those (close in winter ops situations but never had to restrict passengers). I know the Hawaii flights see ETOPS add fuel issues but I've never had to restrict out of or to the islands either (and I have had adequate fuel loads). I must be lucky. Having said this, I'd rather be doing the longer flights in a 757 or A-321 NEO. Nobody asked me.
