Yes, yes, and no.
The 757 is my favorite airliner. I have a lot of time in it. I have just under 1000 PIC in late model 321's. It is my second favorite airliner. But the 321 is going to outsell the 757 by 3 or 4 to 1.
The 321NEO LR will do everything the 757 will do, except short field, hot and high. It will cost half what a 757 will cost, and use less gas.
I still love the 757. But the 321 will make it dissappear into history.

Back to topic: I thought Znotins was a pretty sharp guy, and seemed dedicated to doing 'right things' for United.
Friday's Flight Ops Update said UCH was surprised that he "was leaving for other opportunities."
Hmmm. The truth? Or a euphemism?
If he was canned, is it because they see issues with fleet and route selections he made? (ie, 737 on previous 757 routes).
Or....could it be that Kirby was arguing for RJs (which legend says he favors) and Znotins stuck to his guns for mainline equipment?
Discuss.

Kirby may like RJs, but I'd like to think he would recognize that the push for mainline equipment made good sense for us. Compared to AA/DAL, our hubs are more slot/space constrained and upgauging is our best bet for matching capacity to demand in the short term. Load factors/traffic this summer did not suggest a need for fewer ASMs or more frequencies, that's for sure. Oh yeah, and we are about maxed out on 76 seaters anyways (thank you, scope choke).
