UA Airbus Rolls off taxiway at DIA
#31
Will be interested to hear if any UAL folks can comment on what happened once the facts are known.
The A320 checkout I did included memory items for loss of braking. The key operation is to turn anti-skid/NWS off which switches brake pedals to the yellow system. There are more steps to it than that but that is the main 'systems' piece.
But then again its an airbus. Who knows what could happen when spilled wine and croissant crumbs make their way into the avionics bay?

Wouldn't be surprised to see it come back after this event.

In case inbody really cares, the 787 has a totally electrical braking system. Yes no hydraulics!
If the electrical system completly fails, no brakes!
And as far as stuff quitting, the quite secret is the 787 has strange stuff all the time. Boeing even recalled one of the operating systems (loads) because it had bugs.
Yep I want to go back to the steam gauge days, two VORs, ADF, celestial Nav for overwater and a two axis autopilot. Yep those were the days!
In the old days we had to push the throttles up for Go-Arounds and the S/O would verify the power for us.
Did I mention no bunks, but of course a 5 hour leg was really long and pacific international meant you had a night in Hawaii on every trip.
And back then no-body had noise-cancelling headsets even though the cockpits were expoentially louder than the loudest one we have today. I love when I see pilots on the 787 or 320 wearing ear plugs in flight. Must be to cancel out the noise from the seat next to them.
Yep theis thread is really silly.
These are the "good old days!"
Enjoy FIFI!
