I have a hard time imagining some management guys from the fleet not grabbing the delivery flight of the shiniest of airplanes.
It's hard to get your picture taken with Oscar if you're not there.

Won that grievance a while ago. It will be listed as a ferry flight and in open time. If it can be flown by line pilots, it will be, not the flt test guys.
Now that doesn't mean that our assistant chief in SFO won't try to do an end around and displace...

I don't know how it will be going forward on the 777, but I bet money at least the first delivery is going to be E.G. or management flown. Somebody is going to enjoy the 5 hours to stay home!

On the Guppy for a long time they would have to put it in open time for a line holder to pick up, but it was always actually flown by E.G. They would displace you from the trip. It was the best deal going. Only within the last 9 months or so have they started having line pilots do the delivery flights.

I remember it like it was only yesterday, we finally got some kind of flight manual numbers for the plane....
