Under Parker/Kirby, USA/AWA went from eight crew domiciles down to four.

Kirby's famous quote from that era:

"We have no plans to further downsize Pittsburgh".

Look at PIT now.

Maybe he will finally put CLE out of its misery, too....

"Killing Cleveland" is a United Air Lines tradition.

Kirby is a numbers guy, pure and simple. A little socially awkward, likes to shoot his mouth off, is a supreme narcissist. He's good at what he does, but he isn't infallible. At America West he was the guy that had us going head to head with UAL and American in the transcon market. We got our butts kicked (although they were awesome trips to fly, high credit, 4 legs in 4 days.).

He takes ideas from other people and refines them, that's about it. Not labor friendly at all, but he will cut a deal when it suits him. I wish we had kept Kirby and got rid of Isom, Isom is a real piece of work.

Kirby has this weird love/hate relationship with pilots. He likes to come up front to talk, one of his best buddy's his Acadamy roommate who is a 99 East hire, but he makes every effort to see that we are minimized in terms of authority or position within the corporation.

And lock up your F/As. He's a playa.

But Gordo loved chasing the FA's esp the sistas and he was idolized by too many pilots. Perhaps the show will be different this time. Hopefully cocaine won't be involved.
