Default DCA or IAD?

Can someone please help me out. I thought United's domicile in Washington DC was at Dulles (IAD) but I've seen reference that new hires are getting Reagan National (DCA). So I'm a bit confused.

One and the same... DCA is the "domicile" but the flight office is located at IAD. There are three bases covered when someone is based there... IAD, DCA and BWI. Narrow bodies have lines in/out of DCA and BWI... Wide bodies don't get trips out of them... only IAD.

Thank you greatly. Now I understand.

How often do you have to get between the three on the ground?

(i.e. Arrive DCA, depart BWI)

On reserve you might get called out to BWI or DCA, but vast majority of flying is out of IAD. All pairings start and end at same airport, so I've never had to use ground transport between, just commuted in. There are some other threads with detailed train/bus/shuttle options between (silver line may actually open someday)

Similar situations exist in other domiciles as well (e.g. LAX-SNA-ONT, SFO-SJC, EWR-LGA)

That is not necessarily true. But it isn't a problem. It's rare. A built ID can start at one airport and end at another, but it is the companies responsibility to get you to your car. They will provide a van to get you back. SFO, OAK, SCJ, IAD, BWI, DCA, JFK, LGA, EWR.

LAX, used to be BUR, and SNA, once in a while, ONT.

For people in United classes now. What percentage of them are from ExpressJet/CommutAir?
What about SkyWest or Republic? I'm sure the rest are corporate pilots and military?

How is that possible when there are 737 folks from May still waiting on activation for ORD?
