You bid for the available slots. Seniority is by DOB.

Do they tell you the openings first, and then you bid what you want and if your the oldest your guaranteed to get it?

Yes, they will have a list of available aircraft and bases, and the oldest person picks first. Depending on what's open, there will be more choices for the oldest in the class, and the youngest gets whatever is left.

Caveat... Pilots returning from a LOA pick before any new hires (oldest first) from the available "pool".. In addition, Pilots returning from Military LOA already know what aircraft and base so they don't pick from the "pool".

No I wouldn't say that... in general it's more senior than either coast but it's no where near what Denver is. I was hired in Sept 2015 and was initially awarded DCA, but was able to get ORD in a vacancy that opened while I was still in training, and only flew one month out of DCA. That was on 737. Guys in my class who took the bus waited a few months longer. I was able to hold a line after about 6 months.

Two questions if anyone can help:

1) Has anyone with an availability date of at least March'17 received an interview invite?

2) What age is the 'average' oldest in most classes? Mid/high 40s?

Thx!

I've heard of a few guys with March avail being offered interviews. Sorry I can't answer your second question.

Good luck!
