T38 hit it, mostly. The whine you hear is an electric hyd pump that's run when a motor is shut down. This prevents the power transfer unit (PTU) from trying to pressurize the opposite side that isn't being powered by the engine driven pump. That barking dog you hear in the back is the PTU. You run the electric pump to pressurize the system so the passengers don't have to listen to the barking dog. At the gate you'll hear electric hyd pumps come and go since that's how the cargo doors are opened and closed.
So, barking dog is a good thing: PTU
What we need is a PTU sound dampener. Electric pump is the barking dog quieter.
I think I speak airbus now. I just need to learn how to use the table and that side stick.
Why is there a voice that says "retard" while landing.... Sort of says it like he's some soho poof dragging on a cigarette.

It has the sound fidelity of a 1987 telephone answering machine being played underwater.
"Retard" sounds like "Bleptarlld!" in those airplanes.

That retard call out on landing is meaningless unless it is an autoland. On an autoland, the FMA goes to IDLE just under 50 feet RA and the thrust reduces to IDLE. The retard call out is just telling you to match the thrust levers position with the FMA (idle thrust position). On a manual landing using auto or manual thrust, the retard call out is still generated. However, you bring the thrust levers back to idle as you see fit for the conditions. Plenty of times I was hanging on to some power as it felt like the bottom was dropping out as Fifi was squawking "retard." Alternatively, there are cases on a manual landing where you might pull the thrust to idle before you hear a "retard" call out if the energy state warrants. Just learn to ignore it and do what you feel is needed, unless it's an autoland.

According to the 3rd Quarter fleet plan, should have 6 by year end. TK PI last week said we are getting 21 total.
Edit- found the routing.

The second one is doing its test hops, waiting for release to the line. The third recently ferried from China. The last leg was from ANC to wherever the MX facility is in the SE USA if I recall the routing correctly.
