New Uniforms
#232
They had a lot of high-priced systems available or even in place (LUAL training scheduling system for example). But they consistently chose the cheaper way in the merger. Consequently, although it's world-wide airline, it's not a world-class airline.

And more recently we had a high priced designer quit when designing the post-merger uniforms because she would not put her name on the crappy stuff ($$$) that UA demanded. Her designs never saw the light of day. That's when UA hired Cintas (who is well known for providing uniforms for janitors, factory workers, and fast food employees) to design and provide the uniforms for all the employee groups except pilots.
As noted earlier, M&H provided pilot uniforms to UAL that were exactly what was requested. Smisek wanted cheap and they delivered in spades.

Yup.

What a total waste of money! Why don't we buy off those senior mamas and hire the right personnel to compete on international routes. Instead allowing the most lazy and most expensive labor to operate on most crucial network.
Pax know that UAL is total $4!t in customer service and no matter what kind of golden wrapper you are going to use to cover $h!t, if it smells and looks like $h!t it's still a $h!t, new wrapper won't make a Swiss chocolate magically.
Keep $$$ keep the paint and invest in retraining of customer representatives; both FA and Customers service reps.
This is just typical for LUAL to keep spending $$ on rebranding, like those last 3 in the past 16 years have helped UAL improved imagine.

We were steered to "Omar the Tentmaker" for our double-breasted van admiral suits. The material was heavy and hot, but would last for 30 years. I think it was what Clipper Ships used for their sails.
