Pax know that UAL is total $4!t in customer service and no matter what kind of golden wrapper you are going to use to cover $h!t, if it smells and looks like $h!t it's still a $h!t, new wrapper won't make a Swiss chocolate magically.
Keep $$$ keep the paint and invest in retraining of customer representatives; both FA and Customers service reps.
This is just typical for LUAL to keep spending $$ on rebranding, like those last 3 in the past 16 years have helped UAL improved imagine.
Very interesting. Why don't you write to Oscar and alleviate his fears. Maybe he can hire you to do the job.

My guess is the FA's motivation is in the toilet. The majority of them work hard and are pleasant to be around. Many can't afford to retire as they have never had a defined contribution plan like our B-Fund. They have a small PBGC check and Social Security to live on in retirement. They also get treated pretty nastily by some passengers and over time, it has affected the way they do the job. They have been working without a contract for a while, and like us before we got our new UPA, have taken a dim view of putting on a good face to their passengers.

Well brotha, you and I are just sheeps in UAL if you haven't discovered it yet. Oscar will do what's best for Oscar, BOD, and investors.
There are more pressing issues, that we should address with management then wasting our profits on stupid uniforms and branding.

Bingo. IMO, FA positions were never intended to be a 40+ year career. When you are on the front lines dealing with all the BS day to day in the cabin they will eventually become jaded... Some earlier than others... And that will lead to bad customer service. I don't see any improvement in the overall customer service at the gates, checkin counters or with the FAs... Even if they threw double the pay at each work group... The front line employees would give the same service... Just have more green in their pockets.

That's exactly my point...

I've heard that rant before about FA's and the short career. I don't know if that is true or not. But I do know that back in the day, there was a lot more respect for individuals than what we have today. We are simply a number. Back in the day, FA's were required to be nurses. That kind of suggests to me that they were looked upon by management as a highly skilled worker - not a short-timer for career purposes. What has happened to our workforce nowadays is the public has been brainwashed by the media that the airlines are evil and will cancel flights on a whim, be served by a surly group of employees, starting with their face to face with the Customer Service Rep. The public thinks because of this, they can throw out all human courtesy's and become obnoxious, disrespectful and mouthy. This does not mean all of them, but if we were honest with ourselves, we have witnessed some of this aberrant behavior. If I were a flight attendant, I'd last 5 years max putting up with that.

So, serious question, right now beneath your Avatar it says "Banned". Is that true or did you somehow set it that way yourself?

My initial reaction to potential new livery/uniforms was pretty much like yours, albeit less colorful. If JS was still at the helm I'd absolutely be 100% opposed, and if we don't go through with it I won't mind one bit. However, as I previously explained, as I've thought it through I actually think now is about as good a time as any to ditch the remaining debris from the merger.

As for the FA discussion now derailing the thread... it is what it is. An FA recently showed me their pay scales and I have since resolved NEVER to complain in front of an FA about pay errors or brag about expensive purchases/our pay raise/how much I took in last month. Oh, and on those occasional shared van rides I'm now taking care of their baggage tips if the FAs have been polite. I trust many guys do the same but thought it worth mentioning.

Thought provoking on so many levels while demonstrating skill of insight.

Five years? What I witnessed the other day leads me to think I wouldn't last five minutes.

I was temporarily banded by APC mod, because I used word "$cheisse" in disguise, in my posts. So much for freedom of expression on this forum. I have seen others used worst language and they are still here.
I guess mods here are legacy UAL because they don't like criticism about LUAL and their wide bodies (senior FAs) and equipment too, because that B747 (aka 400), is a one big pice of flying junk. That think should be on the junkyard years ago, along with FA that fly it.
I think this will be my last post here, because I don't give a $cheisse about what they think.
Hey mods, suspended me for life....
FU!
(Fly United ;-) I'm out.
