Well, since the speculation is that PAR and Altimeter are only here to drain the company of money for their own pockets, my bet would be on Oscar for the better chance at getting contracts.

I do not know that much about Gordon, but my guess is that he is in it only for himself, and then only a figure head.

How likely and how soon is the question.

From Gordon's perspective, I don't think he even knows why he's in play.

Nonsense. Ignoring someone does not equal aligning with them.

I don't know legally how close Lorenzo can get to an airline considering rulings from his last attempt at airline ownership but he owns/controls a substantial amount of United stock.

When did Munoz align himself with Lorenzo? Please post a quote of Munoz stating that he's aligned with Lorenzo.

How much United stock does Lorenzo own? He doesn't show up on any lists and he hasn't filed any required SEC forms where he is required to state the number of shares he owns. So it's less than 5% of the company - how are you defining 'substantial'?

When did Lorenzo announce that Munoz was his boy?

If you're using that silly 'The Street' article as your only information source, then you have once again jumped the shark.

Allen, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent rant were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this form is now dumber for having read it.

Gordo was nonexecutive Chairman of Aloha Airlines' Board of Directors from 2006 to 2008. Aloha Air's new chair: Gordon Bethune - Pacific Business News

Perhaps Gordo will guide United down the same path as he guided Aloha?

Cheese n crackers!

Did not know this.

It's like putting Kevin Costner in a film. God help us.

For some reason, Gordo always leaves Aloha off of his resume.

I have to agree with you Dave. Every financial analyst is mystified as to why the hedge funds are acting NOW, post Smisek. It makes no sense if you have the premise that they're concerned about operational integrity. It does make sense, however, if their purpose is to raid the company's cash on hand. Somewhere recently I saw that one of their complaints was "capital allocation" which I would surmise is "cash payouts to share holders".

I'm sure they liked the stock buybacks. They might not like all the investment in new aircraft and other equipment.
