It must really sting getting slapped to the mat. At $500/hour/attorney, you have enough money to send a short letter to your mommy whining about those mean old arbitrators. If ALPA was smart, they'd just kick all these guys out of the association.

It was a buyout disguised as a merger. LCAL stock holders were paid with LUAL stock.
I have no dog in the fight being post merger, but being a numbers nerd I've read the SEC filings to include the 10K's from both sides. LCALS debt trajectory was headed for the stratosphere and LUAL was sitting on billions in cash, and there was almost zero route overlap. From an operational/business standpoint they were made for each other and neither would have survived alone.
You now work for one of the largest airlines in the world, that just made $4b+ last year. Still want your LCAL W-2, profit sharing, contract, career earnings potential, etc?

Sigh.
To your point of neither would have survived alone, I'm not so sure. I believe one would haved survived. While both would be to trying to outrun the BK Bear, all you have to be is a little faster than the other guy. You have to ask the question, who the Bear was going to catch first?

The pilots donating to this fund need to get over it, and this thread is idiotic. This has been beaten to death for way to long. If you can't see the strengths that both airlines brought to this merger you are self absorbed.

You only have to look at where CALALPA and it's predecessor union to see where they were and how this victim group was created. Prater and Pierce played the CAL pilots to their personal advantage with Fred, Jeff and the controlling undesirables. UALALPA stopped that but you can't fix the victim class left behind - they'll just have to spend the rest of their careers being victims.

I didn't start the thread but I've never been afraid to call the clowns out for what they are. So Lexie continue to sing kumbaya but the facts speak for themselves. Jay Pierce created this group of victims alone with the devide between the New United pilots.

As far as the merger - it was never about building a bigger, better airline. It was about extracting as much cash from old United for the shareholders as possible. The gambit continues with OM taking over to act as the savior of what JS created. You have to ask why they gave the pilots a little pay raise and at the same time continue fighting the other employee groups tooth and nail. The unfortunate thing is the pilots fell for it and continue to sing the praises of a man who's done nothing of substance for the company. He just happen to arrive at a time when fuel prices were moving to bottom dollar - Lucky at best.

Wrong. It's definitely over for me and I'm living in the sweet spot. I was shocked that they had raised $100k+ and actually feel sorry for them. Pierce and Brucia sold those guys the literal gift that keeps on giving.
