That is ironic.... Sure, you can start on the bottom flying the same routes you used to fly. Except you can do it for lot$ more money!!!

I get it! Meaning you are prepared to offer them NOTHING. I agree. My oh my, how things have changed. It's like the old Loverboy song....'Lovin' every minute of it!' Remember when we were sucking wind with a 28% pay cut on top of a downgrade? Ornstein over at Mesa bragging how he might BUY UAL. I once had a Skywest guy on the jumpseat make a point that "Skywest isn't paying UAL furloughees second year pay, United is making up the difference, and it's BS." WOW. Regional dudes on this board were gloating. I like watching the regionals go down in flames. Get your apps into United, Delta, American boys....back of the line, suckahs.

A couple of ill-informed young pilots said ignorant things a few years back so you take pleasure in all the Republic pilots' current uncertainty?

How unifying. How mature. Way to paint with broad brush.

yeah. yeah. You're just still upset that SEVENTY NINE percent of us voted against you. The collapse of the regionals would be the best thing that ever happened to this industry. Let them eat cake.

Those who have been around for awhile know how quickly the industry can change, but for now it's comforting to see some longer range planning.
How about support for actual ALPA carriers? Wouldn't that be a start in the right direction?

The pilot shortage is good for us all, but publicly relishing others job uncertainty is the furthest thing from brotherly or unionism.

Thanks for the clarification - I thought I was misremembering again (oldtimers disease). I don't remember our regional partners offering many J4Js except for SkyWest.

1) I don't expect to see any pilot furloughs at Republic, as their attrition rates will take care of any reduced flying. Do they even have enough pilots to fly their current obligations? The company claimed that one of the reasons why they filed was due to a 'shortage of pilots'. What they meant was, 'a shortage of pilots willing to work for minimum wage'.

2) If anyone at Republic can't get on with a major, plenty of other regionals are offering signing bonuses.

3) The current job market for pilots is about as good as it gets, much different than when I was furloughed the second time. And definitely much different than when I was furloughed the first time.

The regionals were REQUIRED by one of the various UAL/ALPA agreements to offer a jets-for-jobs of sorts (furloughed UA pilots as regional new-hires, but on second year pay) as a condition for each regional airline that wanted to fly 70 seat RJs.

There was plenty of early pushback from a couple of the regionals but the shenanigans were put to rest eventually.
