I know "somethings lost in the translation" in the not so distance past it was SOP to say "Brakes Released" when we began our T/O roll. That's what I was thinking.

Interesting bit of thread drift ahead.

The "Brakes Released" call came from a DC-8 that took off from an icy runway in ORD with the parking brake set. Took off and flew just fine.

Landing in DEN, the DC-8 was supposed to have locked wheel protection. Meaning when you touched down the brakes were released until touch down. Well, it turns out, it didn't really work that way. They blew all 8 mains.

That call along with a lot of other stuff disappeared starting a couple of years ago....

Rumors of another vacancy this Tuesday??? A buddy said it was in upfront news. Can't check right now. Anyone else heard anything?

I thought we were done until the fall.

I hate titles...

"Next Tuesday we plan to open our last vacancy to staff summer 2016. It will contain roughly 20 or so positions to refine our staffing needs, along with 200 positions or so dedicated to our new hires"

The only 2 things that had any carbon on the DC-8 was the gook in the coffee makers and the pencil the engineer used to fill out the log book....maybe some buildup in the tail pipes of the engines..

Look up Carbon Footprint in the dictionary and there's a photo of the DC-8.
