I had an LCA tell me that when the company stops publishing flying FO lines, that all landings were his. I hope other Captains will follow that lead.

With the 777-300ER's coming, a few more 787's that keep getting the best routes, A350's in 2 years and more narrow body captain spots becoming available the odds of long term -400 FO's bouncing to a new seat that better fits their desires is quite possible. Don't forget a good amount of the guys/gals in the high 10's to low 11's are locking themselves up on the 777 and 787 for the next 2 years as well. Finally, if fuel remains dirt cheap and United continues to pack the -400's with bodies and cargo to Asia, they very well could hold onto a few more frames longer than they expected.

That is my perspective on the odds of getting a chance to fly the Whale. The next 2 years will be very interesting for those that are junior but still want the experience.
They are parking a bunch of them.

Which brings up a good question:

How's that A350 cockpit?

Probably really nice. I guess you don't even have to learn how to do an abort. It not only does it for you, it even makes the no-go decision for you.

Where did you see that the 737-800's added this year are from COPA? I've been hearing they are new builds. In the 4th Q filings they specifically mentioned the A319's as used, but NOT the 737-800 or 900ER's coming in 2016. Still trying to determine if these are new from the factory or not. Management has been VERY quiet on this issue, as well as the options that have already exercises for the 900ER's we have taken recently

Never mind that, GB.. Look at all those quiet and comfy Buses coming! You could slide back and be eating offa a nice tray instead of a (soon to be removed) logbook, and I could move up a number. Win Win!

HAHAAHHAHHHA! Don't think I don't dream about it!! If I'd known they were gonna build the Bus back up I wouldn't have ever left!! If it makes you feel better, I tried to bid the 756 but I'm frozen. So I'm stuck stealing your summer vacation. =)

You'll find that October and May are absolutely lovely for vacation! Sure you'll have to ruin your kids eduction by yanking them out of school for 2 weeks, but that's a small price to pay!

I've got to give you credit. You could make a funeral sound inviting. Insert smiley face here...
