From the standpoint of never working, the 400 definetly seems the way to go. Local guy on a dying fleet can grow a full on Hipster beard. That said you probably add another training cycle in 2-3 years. The 787-9 is signifcantly louder then the -8 thanks to recirc location. The bunk is prob best in industry, but remember no BF seat if it fills up with revenue. The bunk 'rest seat' is nothing more then a slightly more comfortable and quieter jumpseat.

What memories. Please pass the bottle and the pistol.
Thankfully, I eventually wound up in the 727. I can use those memories to assuage my scarred and sordid past.

The cockpit picture doesn't look a whole lot different than a 737NG. I think the NG has more toggle switches.
I hope it was fun to fly. But based on the bottle and pistol comment, I would guess not. Same same 737NG.

Cockpit? Well it's of the old generation with a lot of googoophonics. On long empty ferry flights... brrrr. Blankets are a must after some 8 hours aloft. Plenty of room for a bed roll in the back of the cockpit.
The 75/76 was the most comfortable cockpits. More noise from the display cooling fans than from the slipstream.

The 744 is still the majestic bird of the skies. Very maneuverable in all regimes of flight from low to high speed. Probably one of the easiest planes to land.
