2016 737-800's and 900ER's???
I'm hearing noise from folks that listened to the conference call that UAL is taking delivery of 14 737's THIS year. This is NOT the 737-700 order which starts in 2017. Specifically new builds, 7 737-900ER, 6 737-800s, plus the one 737-900ER remaining from the original order. All to be delivered this year.
UAL quietly converted somewhere around 15 options on the original sUA 737-900ER order and we've taken delivery of around 65 of them vs the 50 ordered. Has anyone else heard that we are getting another 13? I had read that we were taking 2 737-900ER's (one yesterday and one in Feb). I hate the plane but LOVE the growth! Did anyone listen to the call and therefore shine some more light on this??

United Continental Holdings, Inc. - Home Go to SEC filings. Page 4 company outlook. The entire fleet plan for 2016 is listed there. Net increase of 23 Mainline AC next year and a net decrease of 14 Express planes.

It's in the 8-K. 14 more 737-700/800/900 in FY 16.

Heard that in 1997 too. Also a time of fantastic growth and shiny airplanes coming in mass. Five years later we entered CH11 telling the court on day one that we were losing about $15 million per day.
With the coming assault on our international operation, I wouldn't be too excited.

Won't go quite that low here as the Airbus and Guppy fleets are not dying. The Maddog bid is to a fleet that will be gone in the near future, so it has that added element of crap to the life. ( aside from being old and being based in NY)

Lastly, I'd say a new contract with much better rates across the board may finally draw out the super senior guys and gals from the right seat.
It's going to be a very intriguing next few years...everywhere.
