I have over 10,000 hours of 737 time, never had to make a fuel stop except for Newark to Guayaquil Ecuador in the 737/800. I've flown the 900 into SNA and back to IAH. I've also done Denver to Anchorage with a full boat, jumpseater and an alternate. Only city pair that really is a problem is LAS to DEN with icing conditions applied. The thing makes $$$ and pays the same as a 757. Good for us and good for the company.

Maybe good for you, I can't wait to get off the Guppy and the torture chamber cockpit. Most uncomfortable airplane I've ever flown.

Don't disagree, my biggest complaint is the noise level, but they are here to stay, and don't perform as badly as guys claim. I had a flight attendant tell me her 757 boyfriend thinks she shouldn't bid 900 trips because they "stall in flight" and are always close to running out of gas. She was seriously nervous about it. I told her she should have him drug tested....

The 737-900 and A321 are both pigs and not a true 757 replacement.
The 321neo is a 757 replacement. I'd take a bunch of those.
Not sure about the 737-max9, but we are getting those for better or for worse.

After 5K hours in a RJ, I roll my eyes at descriptions of the guppy as a torture chamber. And I'm sure a lot of Lakes 1900 guys would roll their eyes at my description of a RJ. Funny I rode a bus JS a few months back and found myself dumbfounded at how loud it was. Then again I've been on a WB for 3 years. Very easy to lose perspective.

And fwiw, Delta starts running stretch guppies to Hawaii in April. Somebody better warn them about the mandatory weight restrictions.

Back and forth from west coast to islands many years in a 73...transcons...BOS/SFO...never bumped or offloaded once.

75 is a much better performer, 73 much better economically for those types of segments. The reduction in performance does not outweigh the economics...for those types of segments.

Not that it matters to me being retired, I am glad that equipment decisions are made by dispassionate, analytical types...pilots would only choose what they like to fly. Denver to Omaha would be a 787 if the decision was left to pilots.

He just doesn't want to have to chance losing her to one of the real men who fly the guppy.
