Oh, I'm sure that Training Bulletin will be pushed to your Ipad at least 12 hours prior to you having to proficiently perform said maneuver in the stimulator!

It has been in the FM since 17 Jul 15.

[QUOTE=Lerxst;2050646]Well, the "ER" moniker at the end sure doesn't mean "Extra Roomy"

The "ER" stands for "Extra Runway"!!

Yes, but nobody has actually seen one in the simulator yet and I would hope that some training takes place before that becomes an authorized procedure.

Just like the Flaps 25 takeoffs that appeared with Sabre, I would like the opportunity to fly a few V1 cuts in the sim to get a feel for what an older -800 that has full LE devices extended vs a newer one that has only partial LED's.

Makes sense....but when money is involved that goes out the window.

I had a PC last month and got signed off for the Flaps 5 GA. It was pretty much a non-event, I almost couldn't tell the difference. We'll all get it as we cycle through, and then it will be authorized.

Thats good to hear, must be a recent (or spotty) thing cause the few guys I know that have gone in the past few months did not see it.

It has been trained on every single day two pc after the loft since last October based on what TKSouth is saying. Turn on date for next winter. Agree on the flaps 25 change. Poorly implemented. This one seems better so far. The actual procedure, however, is somewhat limited by eliminating anything lower than cat 1. It is what it is.

Remeber, it is just a computer and can be programmed to do anything.

Years ago after we put an MD-80 off the end of LGA runway when it was snowy and icy, the knee jerks then mandated flap 23 ( then 22) takeoffs when it was even wet.

I refused, because that 2 engine lawn dart with all the aluminum hanging down on a V1 loss would be an uncertain future.

On my next PC I asked the CA to give me a V! cut at 130,000 lbs at LGA on a cold day. It crashed twice. The check airman tried it with the same result!

When I told the MD-80 Chief Pilot about it his eyes got big and promised to check it out.. A month later he snagged me and told me it was okay, because the sim had be re-programmed! He nearly soiled himself when I asked if all the PC's from the last year were invalid because obviously the sim had been out of limits

We did it after our CQLOE in November. Wasn't bad. Plenty of time to get the flap lever into the "5" detent as the flaps slowly retract from 30.
