The only pilots I have heard who don't like SC's are on this board. Every single pilot I fly with on reserve wants as many as they can get.
The pilots that are complaining about reserve here are in the VERY VERY EXTREME MINORITY. Our reserve system rocks.
FSB should be paid. SNG is paid, I got it twice this year. 2 hours add pay each. I don't know why a SNG is any different than a FSB.

1. SC sux if traffic sux.
2. SC sux if you have something else to do
3. SC sux if you don't do 3 or more, cuz u get no pay if you no work
4. SC sux if your base is chronically understaffed

My information tells me that:
1. ALPA doesn't want to add any fixes to reserve. It's just fine.
2. ALPA has had two opportunities to do so and has passed due to other priorities.
3. It costs negotiating capital to add "fixes" to reserve, what would you like to trade for it?
4. ALPA feels like reserve is a "temporary" problem. You'll be off reserve soon, so no need to spend negotiating capital on that.
Those are the responses I get when I ask my reps.

2). Work in general sucks if you have something else to do. That's why we all look forward to retirement. (That's a note to all you "age 70" supporters)
3). If you get less than 3 SC's in a month, you don't get extra pay. But if you're getting 0-2 SC's a month, what are you complaining about reserve for? The big beef is unlimited SC's.
4). Reserve in general is always going to suck if your base is chronically understaffed. But with reference to #3, at least you're going to get some extra money out of it. Either you're likey to blow guarantee out of the water or max out SC pay. But being a middle-junior line holder sucks if you are at a chronically short base because you're likely doing nothing but 89 hour lines with 12-13 days off. Reserve can sometimes be a better deal in those cases with additional days off over Jr Lineholders.
I just keep remembering it wasn't that long ago that ALL reserve was SC. There was no LC, there was no "rest period". It was 24/7 SC for every single reserve day.

I dont consider 24% a "little" pay, and we gave back zero for that raise. And if we'd done it your way we'd be trying to renegotiate a new contract with the likes of the PAR/Altimeter Capitol hedge fund crowds pulling the strings. That would've been awesome.

You should get the rate right and yes you gave. You continue to operate under a contract that was born under mistrust and threat. You voted twice for this contract and have little justification to complain about it. PAR/Altimeter hedge funds will still be pulling the strings.

I knew the union would not go for reserve "fixes" in next TA either.
No one in union wants to push this right now. FAR 117, which ALPA drove are fixes for "free" within the reserve system so to speak.
Further, I have lots of sick time. The only thing I imply by voting yes is I bet I won't run out of sick time while stuck on reserve.
Have to put it on ALPA since they are the ones who negotiate and who determine what to trade for it. It's not nececarilly BAD to let it lie at ALPA's feet. it's just realistic.
That being said, I am not willing to trade anything of material "REAL" value to fix reserve issues. Just call in sick. You are only one phone call away from a livable schedule. You are only two phone calls away from a super-duper schedule.
I agree with ALPA. Not worth wasting time and money on (for now). let's see what other airlines do in the near term on their scheduling/reserve policies. Love to see Delta or another "leap frog" us on this. We'll be right behind them negotiating that via the "me too clause." Won't cost us much, if anything at all.....

That was wise. You must either be a rep or on the NC. I hear the company had a list of 35 "fixes" to reserve that they wanted to extract from us. Better to let that alone for now.
