Next vacancy bid???

You will get a notification on CCS (typically at the end of each month when they move pieces around before monthly PBS bidding opens).
That said, you are EWR based until then. You will most likely be stuck in EWR for at least a month, but you might get activated before you finish IOE with all of the movement. You can always email pilot planning and ask when they plan to activate you. Welcome!

I was in a similar situation... I was originally DCA based on 37 but awarded ORD during a vacancy in training. I emailed pilot planning and asked about it. They didn't give me an activation date but they just said that activation is done based on company need and seniority. I was fortunate and was activated the very first month of the award. (Vacancy award for 0116 and was activated for 0116) so I only had to do one month in DCA. This isn't always the case though. There were people in my Indoc class that were on the bus who were awarded ORD in the same vacancy I was but have not been activated yet. Same goes for people I know in the 73 in IAH.

one would think there would be a few capt vacancies considering this will probably be a summer staffing bid and there were no back fills on the last bid? Then again when has ual ever been proactive on staffing? They seem to be taking the old cal bare bones method....unfortunately.

For the 787, we plan to staff according to our usual process. Given our currently projected training loads, this means that for the expected Captain vacancies between now and next summer, approximately one third will be awarded in this most recent vacancy prior to the fence coming down, and the remaining two thirds will come after.

Hopefully the last 3rd will contain more capt bids....
